So for years now I’ve been set on trying to replicate my grandmothers Sweet Potato Pie recipe. As a kid I would watch her in the kitchen for hours, peeling and boiling the potatoes. Then blending all of the ingredients together in a bowl, and then pouring all of the lovely batter into the store bought pie tins. I would sit in the kitchen and guard the oven to make sure no one touched the precious pies!

We have a big family so my grandma would make at least 10-12 pies to make sure that each one of us got a slice of her amazing sweet potato pie, I appreciated her so much for that. The last thing I would want is to argue with one of my cousins over the last slice of pie. That’s just not the type of drama I need in my life, Ya know?
My grandma knew how much her pies meant to me, I mean really to my entire family. But for me, it was some of the best memories I had with her. It was such a great bonding time for the two of us and its certainly those moments that I will forever cherish.

Sadly, my grandma passed about two years ago and I have made it my mission to recreate her pie recipe. And damn, when I tell y’all that this pie recipe is up there with hers, I mean, I was pretty damn proud of myself after the first bite.
So lets get started, Shall we?
Start out my peeling, cutting in half and boiling two medium-large size sweet potatoes. Once potatoes are fork tender, about 30 minutes, place the potatoes in a mixing bowl and let cool for about 5 minutes.

After about 5 minutes, turn the mixer on and let mix for about 2 minutes to release some of the heat and to also break apart the potatoes. Mix in the sugar, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla, spices and flour. Then your going to pour this lovely batter into a store bought pie crust. Bake for about 55 minutes at 350. Once the pie comes out of the oven, let it cool or not. And dig right in.

Enjoy!
