How to make homemade strawberry sauce
For this recipe, using fresh or frozen strawberries is perfectly fine. This recipe calls for 1 lb or 3-4 cups of sliced strawberries.
Be sure to slice off the tops of your fresh strawberries removing the green stem. Next, slice the strawberries in 3- 4 slices. Remember, the slices dont need to be perfect but try to get them about the same size as possible so everything cooks evenly.
Place cut strawberries in a heavy bottomed sauce pan, add in sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice. Let it boil over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes stirring occasionally then remove from heat and let cool.
How long will this stay fresh in the fridge
This strawberry sauce will stay fresh in the fridge for about 3-4 days in a airtight container. If you don’t plan on using the sauce right away, freezing it for up to 1 month will work too.
