Ok so here me out, regular Chocolate Chip Cookies are good, yes, but they are also basic AF. Time to up the anty just a little with these SALTED. CARAMEL. PRETZEL. CHOCOLATE.CHIP. COOKIES. Can you sense my excitement?
These cookies are crispy on the outside, chewy in the inside, caramely, and crunchy from all those pretzel pieces. Don’t let the number of ingredients in this recipe deter you from baking these. I promise you, all of the effort is so worth it once you take that first bite.
Let’s talk about the ingredients for a minute, shall we? I bought the Kraft Baking Caramels. Now these come individually wrapped so go ahead and save yourself some time by unwrapping them first. You will need about 20. Cut each piece of caramel into 2 or 4 pieces. If your thinking to yourself “Girl, aint nobody got time for that!” Welp, Kraft also sells the Baking Caramel Bits if so chose. But I honestly prefer the bigger caramels.
Go ahead and rough chop your unsalted pretzels ahead of time also. This can be done in a Ziploc bag. A few bangs against the counter should do it. Not to much or you will end up with crumbs or worse, pretzel dust. We just need the pretzels to be broken up just a little bit.
After these two pre-prep steps, we are ready to pull out the other ingredients. Start out by creaming your butter and sugars for about 3 minutes. While that creams, measure out your flour and baking soda in bowl, set aside. Now its time to add in 1 egg at a time into the butter mixture. Followed by the vanilla extract of course. Once combined, be sure to scrape the bowl to make sure everything is fully incorporated. Add in flour mixture, then chocolate chips, and caramels. Remove the bowl from the mixer and fold in the pretzel pieces.
Scoop the cookie dough onto a parchment lined cookie tray, bake for 11-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
Once the cookies come out of the oven, sprinkle sea salt over each one. ENJOY! I bet you can’t just eat just one.
